  • Yield: 4 Servings
  • Total Time: 30 Minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 egg (lightly beaten)
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ cup red onion (diced)
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Asian chili garlic sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp powdered garlic
  • 1 tsp basil
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp powdered ginger
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 sesame seed burger buns
Mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp Asian chili garlic sauce
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
Ketchup
  • 1 tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato ketchup
  • ½ tsp fresh lime juice
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
How to Make It
  1. First, prepare the patties. Using clean hands, combine the egg, beef, onion, breadcrumbs, soy sauce, garlic sauce, lime juice, hoisin sauce, salt, sugar, garlic, basil, black pepper, and ginger in a bowl. Shape the mixture into 4 equal patties. Using your thumb, make an indent in the center of each patty. Chill for 15-20 minutes.
  2. In the meantime, prepare the mayo. Stir together the Asian sauce and mayonnaise to combine. Chill until ready to use.
  3. Next, stir together the ketchup ingredients (hoisin sauce, ketchup, lime juice, and soy sauce). Chill until ready to use.
  4. To prepare the slaw, toss together the carrots and coleslaw mix. Add the soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, lime juice, and sesame oil. Toss again to combine and chill.
  5. Now cook the patties. Place a skillet over moderately high heat and add the oil. When hot, add the patties and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until cooked.
  6. Place a burger inside each bun, top with a spoonful each of the prepared mayo and ketchup followed by some Asian slaw. Serve straight away.
