  • Yield: 10 small breads
  • Preparation Time: 15 Minutes

Ingredients

  • ½ quantity Basic Bread Dough
  • 500 g Basic Bolognaise, cooled
  • 250 ml grated mozzarella
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 60 g butter, melted
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 5 ml salt
  • 15 ml chopped fresh parsley, plus extra for garnishing
  • 250 ml Basic Tomato Sauce, for dipping
How to Make It
  1. Preheat the oven to 180 °C.
  2. Divide the bread dough into 10 equal portions and roll out into circles until about 1 cm thick.
  3. Spoon some mince onto each rolled-out dough circle and top with a little cheese.
  4. Brush the edges of the dough with the beaten egg and pinch at the seams to close it up into a little ‘ball’.
  5. Place the balls in a circle, seam-side down, in a cast-iron skillet.
  6. Mix the melted butter with the garlic, salt and parsley. Brush the balls with the garlic butter mixture and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Allow to cool for 5–10 minutes. Place a bowl of warm tomato sauce in the middle of the skillet.
  8. Sprinkle the bread balls with parsley and watch everyone really enjoy these!
